Despite his support of the smoking ban and Harrison Square, the anti-smoking and anti-development folks (on the Republican side) couldn’t unseat John Crawford (see story here). His 18.4% of the vote was sufficient enough to allow him to finish third behind Marty Bender and Liz Brown, who received 20.3% and 18.7% respectively.
Those individuals who complained loudly and at length about the smoking ban and the Harrison Square project didn’t have enough clout to remove him from the November ticket. This November will pit Bender, Brown, and Crawford against John Shoaff, Thomas Essex, and Denise Porter-Ross, the three successful democratic candidates.
Let’s hope those who oppose the smoking ban conduct themselves in a more professional manner than they did recently with their ridiculous and outrageous comparisons of Crawford to Hitler.
